Amber Zwanenburg

Lawyer since 2024

Amber has been a lawyer at SteensmaEven since the summer of 2024, where she handles all aspects of employment law. Amber advises employers, works councils and employees on a variety of employment law issues and litigates on their behalf when necessary.

Before Amber made the switch to the legal profession, she worked at Erasmus University Rotterdam for almost ten years. After successfully completing her bachelor, the Erasmus Honours Programme and her Master’s degree in Private Law at the same university, she joined the labor law section of the Erasmus School of Law as an academic lecturer. She participated in various international (research) projects and taught in the bachelor and master programs. Among other things, she gave lectures European and international labor law in the master Labor Law. At the same time, she conducted academic research and wrote her dissertation on bogus constructions in social law. Her dissertation discusses the approach and possible correction of national and cross-border sham constructions by Dutch judges. In June 2024, Amber successfully defended her dissertation and obtained her doctorate (PhD).

Amber also publishes regularly in employment law journals and is the author of several (text) books, including the textbook Legal Orientation. She furthermore is an editor of the Employment Law Journal in Context. Amber also gives lectures and workshops.
